PDF Translator
Your browser opens the PDF and pulls the text out of it. Only that text is sent to be translated; the file stays where it is. You get back a document with the original and the translation side by side.

What leaves your computer
The text, and only the text. Your browser opens the PDF on your own disk and pulls the words out of it; those words go to a translation model, because there is no way to translate them without one. The file itself, its images and anything embedded in it stay where they are. This is one of three tools on this site that send anything at all — the other two translate images and video — and saying so is better than rounding it down to "nothing is uploaded".
How the free pages are counted
A page means 3000 characters of source text, counted on our side rather than taken from your browser. When the day's pages run out the tool stops until tomorrow. Paid pages are not on sale yet.
Why this one
What you get that the big converters cannot offer.
The file stays, the text travels
The PDF is read by this page on your own machine. What gets sent is the text inside it — no images, no attachments, and no copy of the document left sitting on a server.
Original and translation side by side
The result keeps the page order and puts each paragraph next to its source, so you can check a sentence you do not trust instead of taking it on faith.
Metered because it genuinely costs money
Every other tool here runs on your own processor and costs us nothing. This one calls a translation model for every page, which is why there is a daily allowance instead of no limit.
No account for the free pages
The daily allowance asks for no email and no sign-up. Paying buys more pages; it still does not create an account.
How to use it
Choose a PDF and pick the language you want it in.
The text is pulled out in your browser, then translated a few pages at a time. You can watch the page count go up as it works.
Download the result as a web page you can open, print, or save as a PDF.
When people use it
A contract in a language you do not read
Enough to know what you would be agreeing to, before deciding whether to pay a translator to do it properly.
A paper or a manual from abroad
Technical PDFs are usually real text rather than scans, which is the case this handles best.
Forms from a foreign authority
Visa, tax and insurance paperwork — the kind of document where handing the whole file to a stranger is the part you wanted to avoid.
Questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The PDF is opened by your browser and the text is pulled out on your own machine. That text is then sent to a translation model, because translating needs one. The file itself, and anything in it that is not text, never leaves your computer.
Why is this one metered when the rest are free?
The other tools run on your own processor, so there is nothing to limit. Translation runs on a model that charges per page. The free pages come out of a daily budget; past that you can pay for more or come back tomorrow. The allowance is 5 pages a day.
Does it keep the layout?
Not the layout of the original page. You get the text in reading order, original beside translation. Tables and multi-column pages come out as running text.
Can it translate a scanned PDF?
No. A scan is a picture of a page with no text in it. Run it through the Image to Text tool first — that step happens on your own machine — then translate the text it gives you.
How good is the translation?
It is machine translation. Usually enough to tell you what a document says, rarely good enough to sign. That is why the original is kept next to it.
Bought pages and lost them?
There is no account to log in to — your receipt lives in this browser. Clearing site data, or moving to another machine, loses it. Enter the order number and the email address from your receipt and the pages move to this browser.
