Split PDF

Copies the pages you ask for into a new file. The pages come across untouched, so text stays selectable and quality does not change. Leave the page box empty and every page becomes its own file.

Your files

    Nothing chosen yet.

    Where your file goes

Nowhere. This page downloads a small program into your browser, and that program reads the file straight from your disk. The program comes from this site like any image or stylesheet — but your file only ever travels from your disk into your own browser tab.

    Why this one

What you get that the big converters cannot offer.

    Nothing is re-rendered

Pages are copied as they are. This is not a screenshot of your document — text is still text and can still be searched.

Say it the way you would say it

Type 1-3, 5, 8- and it does what you mean. An open-ended range runs to the last page.

Or split every page at once

Leave the box empty and a twenty-page file comes back as twenty numbered files.

    The document stays with you

People split contracts, statements and medical records — the files you would least want to hand to a server.

    How to use it

    Choose a PDF.

Type the pages you want, or leave it empty to split every page.

Press Start and download the result.

    When people use it

Sending one page of a contract

The other side needs the signature page, not the other forty. Pull it out instead of sending everything.

A form wants each document separately

Applications often ask for passport, payslip and bank letter as separate uploads, but you scanned them as one file.

Dropping the pages you do not need

Cover sheets, blank backs and terms pages make a file bigger and harder to read.

    Questions

    Does splitting change quality?

No. Pages are copied across without being re-rendered, so the output is identical to those pages in the original.

How do I write the page numbers?

Commas and ranges: 1-3, 5, 8- means pages one to three, page five, and page eight to the end. Numbering starts at 1.

What if I leave it empty?

Every page becomes its own numbered file.

    Is the file uploaded?

No. The whole thing happens in your browser.

Can it split a password-protected PDF?

Not while it is locked. Remove the password first.
